The Brandwood Centre is excited to announce that it has secured funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) to continue the successful Train-to-Gain Scheme offering accredited training, 1-2-1 employment coaching CV support and volunteering opportunities.

Our services are free and open to anyone aged 19 or over who is currently unemployed/ economically inactive and living in Greater Birmingham or Solihull. By providing these services we aim to raise confidence, skills and knowledge and increase employability prospects.

Level 1 Passport to Enterprise & Employment – Make Your Move (5 days)

Are you considering returning to work but not yet sure what job is right for you? Understanding yourself can help you work out what careers you may enjoy working in. This brand-new course offers you the chance to explore your skills, motivations and desires to find a job that’s perfect for you! This course will provide you with an accredited qualification, a polished CV, but most importantly a little bit of ‘you time’ to consider opportunities available to you in the world of work!

Level 1 Passport to Enterprise & Employment – Well-Being for Employment – Future Goals! (5 days)

Are you ready to look for work? Our new Wellbeing for Employment programme is the perfect combination of short courses to help focus your mindset on seeking employment. The last couple of years have been a stressful time for everyone and this course will help you to manage your stress levels and protect your mental health while you focus on making 2022 all about you and your future career goals. Gain an accredited qualification and some expert advice to help guide you through the recruitment process and back into the world of work.

Level 1 Award in Enterprise Skills (4 days)

The aim of this course is to develop the key skills required to start up and run your own business. Learn how to develop your entrepreneurial skills, get some top marketing advice to get you started and understand which business structure is right for you and how to register with HMRC and Companies House.

 

Level 3 Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (1 days)

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

 

Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (1 day)

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop the basic skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency paediatric first aid situations which could arise when looking after children.

 

Level 2 Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (1 day)

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in the UK are likely to experience mental health problems each year? Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet whilst we know how to take care of our own physical health, many people do not know how to support friends, relatives or even colleagues who are experiencing poor mental health.

 

Level 3 Mental Health First Aid (2 days)

This course is growing in popularity. Level 3 Mental Health First Aid (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for workers and staff members who would like to raise their awareness of mental health and act as an advocate in the workplace. 

This course will help you to develop an understanding of your own mental health and how to protect it, how to support, reassure and signpost fellow colleagues to professional support and how to promote mentally healthy initiatives in the workplace to protect the well-being of all workers.

Introductory Certificate Food Safety for Catering (1 day)

This course is suitable for anyone looking for a career in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled.  Everyone who works with food has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensuring that the food they serve, or sell is perfectly safe to eat.

Typical environments may include:

  • Pubs, hotels, restaurants
  • Supermarkets and retail environments
  • Food and drink manufacturers
  • Hospitals & Care Homes
  • Schools

Level 2 Foundation Certificate Food Safety for Catering (1 day)

EU and UK regulations state that all food handlers must receive appropriate training in food safety practices relevant to their duties. However, having a good understanding of food safety practices is not only a legal requirement, but also essential in protecting the health of both consumers and food handlers.

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those working, or planning to work, in the food catering industry. It is also ideal for those who come into contact with food handling areas due to the nature of their work, such as pest control officers and delivery personnel.

Introductory Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (1 day)

Designed to be used as a refresher or as training for individuals looking to work in a variety of sectors. This course will ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors, and the public. Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Nevertheless, employees also have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health and safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks.

Welcome Host Customer Service (1 day)

This qualification is ideal for those planning to work in a customer service role. This is an industry standard qualification recognised within the hospitality and tourism sector, accredited by Welcome to Excellence. 

This one-day interactive course offers participants the opportunity to explore the impact of customer service on a business, learn how to develop your customer service skills to maximise revenue and how to deal with difficult situations by managing customer expectations and behaviours. 

Level 2 Safeguarding Children, Young People & Adults at Risk (1 day)

This introduction to safeguarding course will provide you with a foundation in safeguarding knowledge, helping you to feel more confident in recognising the signs of abuse and knowing how to report your concerns. This training is a must for anyone who has regular contact with children/young people and/or vulnerable adults.

CSCS Construction Skills (Inc. Level 1 Health and Safety Certificate (3 days)

This 3-day course offers appropriate construction related qualifications and training required to work in the construction industry. Complete your training, take your test and receive your CSCS Card; proof that you are ready to work on construction sites and have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job.
