Weekly Brandwood Coffee and Catch Up
Are you feeling isolated during lockdown? Perhaps you are missing connecting with your friends or family during these unsettling times. We would like to bring people together once a week with our online ‘Coffee and Catch Up’ sessions. These friendly sessions will take place every Thursday and will give you the chance to chat, get support, receive updates and meet new friends, all from the safety of your own home. The sessions are brought to you using a platform called Zoom. Not heard of this before? Please do not worry, we can help you get set up and start using Zoom. We will offer a step by step guide and will take the time to help you get up and running after which, all you will need to do is join us once a week with a cuppa and enjoy a little bit of community spirit from the comfort of your home. We can offer you a free telephone appointment (Fridays only) where we can give you guidance on money management, support with managing debts and advice on benefits that may be available. Online Training Courses
Our Click and Connect selection of short courses has been designed to help and support you through this unique time. Unlike the courses we have previously held at the Brandwood Centre, all training will be delivered remotely using a platform called Zoom. If you are not familiar with the programme, don’t panic, it’s easy, we promise! You will receive a full set of instructions to get you started prior to your training. The courses are all accredited at Level 1 by SFEDI and will require all participants to work independently and in your own time, outside of the group zoom sessions, however, your Tutor and the Click and Connect team will be on hand to support you through the programme.
There are currently three courses available to choose from:
Level 1 Physical and Mental Health Awareness
How are you today? How’s your physical and mental health? Now, more than ever, its important to check in with yourself and the people closest to you, to see how they are doing and how you can look after yourself and support others. This course is for anyone who would like to understand this topic more. We will be looking at why change can happen, understand peoples reaction to change, how this can affect their physical and mental health and look at methods of coping. We will focus on many areas including diet and eating well, malnutrition, alcohol awareness and eating disorders. This course will run over 4 weeks and you will be expected to join in four ZOOM training sessions, a total of 10 hours of online training. Level 1 Personal Finances
Have you suffered financially as a direct result of Coronavirus/COVID-19? Do you find it hard to manage your own personal finances? Are you overwhelmed and not sure how to make things better? This course has been designed for you to take back control and understand why change can happen, peoples reaction to change and know the methods and tools to cope. We will look at Universal Credit from eligibility through to setting up your claim (if you already receive Universal Credit you can still apply for this course) and we will focus on the importance of managing your money and how to organise your personal finances more effectively. This course will run over 3 weeks and you will be expected to join in three ZOOM training sessions, a total of 5 ½ hours of online training. Level 1 Volunteering
Are you currently a volunteer or maybe you are exploring opportunities to volunteer in your local area? This course covers all the essentials for you to become a volunteer and enjoy giving back to your community. This course will run over 4 weeks and you will be expected to join in four ZOOM training sessions, a total of 6 ½ hours of online training. Within the course you will investigate a variety of volunteer roles, understand the importance of volunteers and look at the importance of safeguarding including recognising the signs and symptoms of abuse and how to report a safeguarding issue. The next Level 1 Volunteering course will run on the following dates:

Finance on Fridays Mini Workshops
Are you concerned about bills, worried about debts, unsure of benefits and grants which may be available to you? If you are feeling the pinch then we are here to help. We have weekly online information sessions where Hilary, our financial advisor, will talk you through how you can save money. From switching utilities to managing your debts to applying for a variety of welfare benefits, we have all the up to date information, providing useful hints and tips on living on a tight budget. Each session is 45 mins which includes time for participants to ask Hilary questions. Scroll down to the contact form to see what workshops we have coming up.
Join Becky for a weekly 45 minute, online seated yoga class, every Thursday at 11am. Seated yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support. It is beneficial if you have limited mobility or are new to yoga. This class is very good for reducing pain, lowering blood pressure and reducing stress and anxiety.
